The ceremony started with a short documentary showing the glimpse of months ofuntiring efforts & activities put in by the entire team of Bharatiyam 2012. The video further boosted up the spirits of organizing team as well as the vast number of participants eagerly awaiting the start of event. Following it Principal, Dr. A.R. Bhalerao, presented short opening & welcome address.
In his address, Dr. A.R. Bhalerao expressed his pride to be heading an institute like Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University College of Engineering. He mentioned that the slogan “Dare to Dream” of Bharatiyam 2012 is true to its innovative events practices and achieving an iconic status for the institute. He informed the gathering that total 3000 students from more than 100 colleges all over the country, have registered for the various events of Bharatiyam 2012. He introduced and appreciated the august presence of the eminent guests. He also mentioned a few achievements of the institute. The prominent among them are maintaining its position in the top 50 technical schools of India, as pert the survey of Data Quest magazine for the consecutive 6 years. The feather in the cap for The institute is being selected for the grant of Rs. 4 crores received as a grant from TEQUIP II. This selection is done by MHRD and World Bank and out of the 250 eligible short listed institutes only 20 are selected. Wishing Bharatiyam 2012 a great success he concluded saying that BVUDUCOE will continue cementing its place in the national arena with its rich tradition in technical excellence.
As per the tradition of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University College of Engineering, the guests were felicitated with shawl, shreephal, bouquet and memento. Dr. U. B. Bhoite felicitated Dr. Prahlada & Mr. Anand Bhate. Dr. A.R. Bhalerao felicitated Dr. U. B. Bhoite. The traditional lamp lighting ceremony, technicalized as switching on electric lamps via a remote, by the hands of chief guest and invocation of Goddess Saraswati, marked the start of inaugural ceremony. “Genre” the annual magazine that brings forth the literary merit of young engineers of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University College of Engineering was released by the hands of Mr. Anand Bhate. This was followed with the felicitation of Joint secretaries and treasurers of Bharatiyam, representatives of various sponsors associated with Bharatiyam. The chief guest and guest of honor felicitated them with bouquets, shreephal and mementoes. Following this was mesmerizing address by the guest of honor. He said that it was a great honor for him to be addressing at the place and that the gathering reminded him of his college days. He said that Bharatiyam is a blend of technology and culture. He also said that technology and arts always go hand in hand. To emphasize this he mentioned that there is a similarity in both and that being the need for constant learning and innovation in both fields. To stress his point he gave an example of the music for the film Balgandharva. The music was going on for years but the new technology of mixing and recording the music resulted in a fantastic blend of music which appealed to all generations. He concluded his speech with best wishes for the events as well as future. Finally on the requests of all the dignitaries and audience, he mesmerized the audience with his beautiful song “Chinmaya sakal hridaya” from his award winning movie Balgandharva. Dr. Prahlada further lifted the enthusiastic spirits of the audience in his address.
started his address expressing his enormous joy of having students with him. He says the impact of art goes up with technology. He mentioned that there is a cycle from arts to technology. Explaining it he said science precedes technology, behind science there is life, life has philosophy and philosophy is composed of arts. Speaking about the institute and its students he said that he found lots of vibrant, intelligent & enthusiastic environment here. He addressed the students saying that world is waiting for their contribution. He further elaborated about it explaining few fields where ample of opportunities are currently available. The pioneer in all of them he said is the virtual classroom, where every student will be his own university. The industries decades ago used to be run by tradesman but today its run by technocrats. He further explained that today industries are no more local but they have become global industries. Another emerging field for opportunity as he mentioned was energy. There is lots of research going on for harnessing bio energy, bio fuel cells, exploiting solar and sea energy and portable power generation. Agriculture and food industry also have research going on for ways to find methods for packaging foods such that they remain fresh and nutritious for years. Infrastructure, aviation, space, underwater and health care are other areas he mentioned. He further said Bharatiyam is a miniature of things going on in the outside world. It is a replica of the technology waiting outside for exploiting and also a platform for learning, sharing, management and finance. He congratulated and presented his best wishes to all the students.
Dr. U. B. Bhoite addressed the audience & also explained how BVDUCOE is keeping its pace with the research demands of society and country with regards to education. He informed that BVDUCOE is the jewel in the crown of Bharati Vidyapeeth Further speaking he said, BVDUCOE also has excellent collaboration with industries and is giving very high quality education. The proof of this being the fact that it is in the top 50 engineering institutes he stated proud fully. Mentioning Bharatiyam he said that Bharatiyam is the glory of the institute. He gave the message to students of being excellent technocrats but along with that not to forget being good human beings. Explaining his need for the message he said that we are getting more and more instrumental and utilitarian with our views not only with material things but also within society. He gave and example of a sand dune here, where all the sand grains are together but they neither related to each other nor they feel for each other. He further motivated the students to have multidimensional personality as against a single dimensional personality and he said that Mr. Anand Bhate is the best example for it. For this, he said, it is needed to nurture our other potentials and enjoy different sources of joy in life. If we forget our other potentials then it will not only harm our development but also will be a loss for the society. He stressed saying that work may be source of income but not source of pleasure. He concluded that we should aim to live a complete life as human being against aiming only at being good professional. He also mentioned that Bharatiyam is providing a platform to engineering students for exhibiting their potential as an artist. In his vote of thanks, Prof. D. M. Thakore, in-charge Bharatiyam 2012, congratulated students for the well organized and co-coordinated event. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to guests and sponsors and the advisory members of BVDUCOE for the support and inspiration for making the endeavor a success. He concluded wishing the audience exciting 3 days of technical and cultural exhilaration.
